I really enjoyed my stay here. The house is beautiful, the beds are comfy, the breakfasts are tasty, and you can have drinks out on the veranda in the evening, and you can wake up in the morning and watch the mist over the valley. It's a five-minute walk from the main drag of Jim Thorpe. Lovely! The people who worked there were very sweet, with the exception of the bombastic middle-aged male owner who kept aggressively complaining about the church bells on Sunday morning. Yeah, they are loud, but they are Sunday morning church bells. Whatever your deal is, I don't need to hear it over breakfast. Luckily he wasn't around too much. Also, they have the cutest, most crotchety old dog ever, Tiger.

The best place to stay while in Jim Thorpe, PA. Sits up on the hill and overlooks the town. Rooms and staff are very nice. The mansion itself is super great. Especially if you really like old historic buildings. The tour is free if you stay at the mansion. Overall 4 out of 5.

**This review is for the self-guided tour only. While the building itself is gorgeous, the experience overall was not worth the $5 per person. We walked in and were greeted by young staff that were more worried about socializing with one another than anything else. They were sitting in each of the rooms (staff, not guests) and talking about "worldy" matters like drinking and yachting. It made you feel very intrusive as you toured the building. The tour itself walks you through a variety of living spaces with a double sided sheet. It would have been great to know more about the family who lived here, the history of the house and town, and the parts Disney focused on. Again, beautiful house but the experience lacked personality.

Had an excellent time staying at the Harry Packer Mansion. The building is beautiful inside and out. The Libations Lounge was really good too, they offer top notch beverages. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food was very tasty and the Saturday night dinner was excellent. The location is close enough you can walk into town and not have to stress about parking. The beds are really comfy and they use a high thread count linens. They have high speed WiFi.

My boyfriend and I went to the first Friday wine tasting at the Harry Packer Mansion during our weekend in Jim Thorpe. It was $25 per person and we got to learn about and try 4 different wines during the tasting plus clean up duty on whatever wine was left over after the tasting. Small h'ors devours were also included. While we waited for the other guests to arrive to the wine tasting, we were able to do a walking tour of this cool, old mansion. Some of the guest rooms were even open to peek into. It would probably be really neat to be able to stay at the mansion. We had already booked the Inn at Jim Thorpe around the corner, but we were happy we got to see what the mansion looked like from the inside. Maybe on our next visit to Jim Thorpe we'll have to try out the Harry Packer Mansion.

Had drinks at the Inn. Wonderful service and delicious wines. We sat outside on the veranda and enjoyed lovely views of the town and hills. Highly recommend!

I visited the mansion with a friend for one of the Murder Mystery Weekends. While we were the youngest pair there (we're in our mid-20s), we had a really great time. The staff at the mansion are amazing, the food is fantastic, and the Murder Mystery plot was great. The owner, Bob, is incredibly friendly and has some of the best stories. If you stop by (and I highly recommend that you do), make sure to ask him to tell the story of how he acquired the mansion. We stayed in Carriage House #3 and the room was gorgeous, with an antique hutch filled with books and a couple of trumpets from the Victorian era. That plus the fireplace and the little stuffed fox on the bed were adorable details that made the place super cozy. Vegetarians will have no trouble eating well at breakfast or dinner. Vegans may want to call ahead and see if accommodations can be made. The breakfasts are delicious and include tons of variety (everything from eggs and potatoes to waffles or banana pancakes and quiche). The dinner was 3-courses including a delicious salad, steak for the meat eaters (and potatoes, pasta, and veggies for us herbivores) followed by coffee/tea (in adorable little ceramic tea pots) and homemade chocolate layer cake. Nomm. The Libations Lounge has awesome options (I had the Tommyknocker Ale which was a maple-infused bottled beer, similar to Guinness and 100% awesome) and my friend had the wine. They have a huge wine selection and a pretty solid beer selection, though they only had red/white wines which my friend was unhappy about. The prices are completely reasonable ($4-5) and go right on your tab so it's hassle-free. Two things to note: 1) parking is kind of difficult (so carpool if you can) and 2) we had wayyyy too many ladybugs staying in our room with us. I think we saw at least 10 in our 2-day stay. Sure, at least they weren't spiders but still waking up with a ladybug in your bed, another 3 flying around over your head, and a handful of others tediously climbing on the ceiling directly above you is a little eek-worthy. It can't be helped, though. Apparently we were in a south-facing room and apparently ladybugs collect in such rooms of their own accord. Eventually we got used to them and they weren't a big deal, but still. *shivers*

Be careful do not allow them to put you into the carriage house for any reason as you would be better off in a clean and modern motel. Also be aware of thw price they quote you and that there are outrageously high taxes on these rooms. All and all the mansion would be a good value at the $100 plus over 15% tax but at double that it's simply not worth it. I wish that the other reviews were real, honest and actually written by guests- something that I highly doubt.

I was looking for something different to celebrate my Birthday. I wanted a place rich in history, not too far from NYC and somewhere I hadn't been before. A friend suggested Jim Thorpe, PA and as I started my research, I quickly found the Harry Packer Mansion. I was sold instantly. Pat was really great with email, so it was cake to book our rooms. It ended up being a group of 5 of us so we had Gussie's Room on the 2nd floor, Emily's Room & Linderman's Room which are both on the 3rd floor. The rooms were very pretty, spacious and welcoming. Each has an en suite bathroom, with super comfy robes and the beds were very comfortable. I always have issues falling asleep in hotels, especially on the 1st night, but not here! It felt like home, I kinda didn't want to leave at the end of our stay! The Mansion is beautiful and having free range to look at everything was right up our alley. Pat's a great cook so both breakfast's and Dinner Saturday night were fantastic. We let her know about some dietary restrictions after booking. We didn't spend too much time @ Libations Lounge but it was a beautiful space and Taylor and Kristen were very nice. Inspector Bob runs the Murder Mystery, and really makes it so much fun! We had a great time getting into our characters, he makes it quite easy. I'm not the most extroverted person but I was able to let go and really embrace it. Lots of laughs and a great time over all, with my group and with the other couples. Bob is very knowledgeable about the Packer family (who the characters are based on) and it's History, he should really write a book. Since its February and there is snow and ice everywhere, the decision to visit Jim Thorpe for the Harry Packer Mansion was perfect. We had a thoroughly fun and entertaining time with the Murder Mystery and had some free time to visit some of the shops in town too, all within walking distance. Awesome weekend and a very memorable birthday for sure!

Spent Valentine's day weekend there with my girlfriend and her family. I did not know what to expect, as I have never done a murder mystery before. I was very pleasantly surprised. The mansion was beautiful. Such ornate details and history. The town itself is so charming. The main street was so cute and lit up and was even more so with the snow falling and the white mountains. They call it the Switzerland of America. and it really did feel like it. The mystery was very entertaining, and Bob was so engaging. Even after doing it for so long, he still had that excitement! You get to know a variety of people too which is fun. The staff was very polite and helpful, especially with all the people that stay there, they do an excellent and efficient job. The breakfasts were way better than i expected. Plentiful and with a lot of variety. The dinner was quite good too for a mass dinner. All meals were buffet style. We stayed in 'Emily's Room' on the 3rd floor and it was very quaint and adequately spacious, plus they had a keurig machine in the hall so you could get coffee/tea whenever you wanted.. The rooms on the 2nd floor are GORGEOUS, i would recommend staying in one of them. All in all-a very cool and entertaining weekend! be prepared for a late night on friday night. It starts at 9pm and ends around midnight. there's a lot of information to be absorbed!!!

My partner and I just returned back to NYC from the mystery weekend getaway at the Harry Packer Mansion! It was a wonderful experience! Being a performer myself, and my boyfriend loving history, we both had a great time... In Bob, they truly have a special thing going! He is a gem! So charming, so into this experience, just so whole heartedly special! Bob wouldn't be able to give his 110% without a strong foundation that the rest of his family provides warmly, and graciously! What this family has going, is truly special, and could even warrant it's own tv show. Also, In a room of 6 other straight couples, we felt welcome. A testament to the kinds of folks drawn to such a wonderful place! As for accommodations...we stayed in the carriage house. A keurig in the common area, a nice quaint cabin-esque room with a faux fireplace/heater made it nice and toasty with just a touch of ambiance. We took a peak at other rooms on the 2nd floor of the mansion and man are they stunning! Large sitting room with a bathroom to walk through into the sleigh bed bedrooms... As one would think, it's the slightest bit tricky to heat the elaborate spaces, but they do a great job accommodating! As for food...breakfasts were well prepared, diverse, and presented with love. Coffee abundance! The main dinner course, before the murderer was revealed on day 2, was hearty and boy did I hit seconds! They really do try to go above and beyond! The whole time enjoying cocktails created, served, and even delivered from their Libations Lounge, a new and very smart addition! Why not sip 2 dirty vodka martinis while learning about history, making strong character choices, and finding out who done it?!!? Overall, a great weekend away. Perfect in fall foliage season as there is a festival and plenty of people around to share the small shops and busy streets with. The old jail, opera house, and churches all have tours and are surprisingly historically significant! I definitely recommend the Harry Packer Mansion for a fun weekend getaway!

We stayed there on short notice and had a wonderful experience! Not only is the town itself charming, the hikes at Glen onoko are breath taking and the views from the terrace of the mansion are gorgeous! We stayed in the carriage house and will be back! We didn't do the murder mystery because we wanted to focus on outdoor activities but we will be back in the fall one year to try it out! It looked like the guests were having a lot of fun. Breakfast was very tasty but if you are a gluten free, health nut, you might want to pack a couple granola bars or ask the friendly staff if they can make you something else. There was always fresh fruit but not much else on the healthy side. Think made to order waffles, pastries and some type of amazing egg/casserole/croissant deliciousness. Well worth the splurge if you ask me! The staff was very nice and the mansion was suuuuppper romantic. They ran out of kuerigs while we were there but there was coffee in the main house and a great coffee place, Strange brew, only a short walk away.

I attended one of the murder mystery weekends. It was a blast! The staff were friendly and fun and the guy who ran the mystery was hilarious. The mystery was pretty tough to solve and you would need to pay attention to a lot of the details. If you participate in the mystery be prepared to roleplay. We did not attend with friends, but I can see this being great for large groups. The food was excellent. They served 2 breakfasts and one dinner with the package and it was really tasty. It's also a great place to stay if you want to tour the town, everything is in walking distance. The other Packer family mansion is also right next door. The room was beautiful and clean. We stayed in one of the suites and we loved just sitting in the room. There is no TV and the wi-fi is weak. But to be honest, it didn't matter and that says a lot coming from someone who spends all their time on the computer. There is a spooky sounding train that runs during the night, you can hear it several times each night, but I was able to tune it out. Highly recommended and we are thinking of returning, as there is more than one version of the mystery available.

Oh my goodness, I don't even know what to say...... My friend and I had stayed at the Harry Packer Mansion a few weeks ago. It was such a lovely time, I just love family owned & operated businesses. And that boy Taylor what a handsome fellow, ( if I was 20 years younger....oooohhhh). :)! I got to meet the whole family, even their friend Jimmy, what a sweetheart! Taylor's Mom is definitely the hustler in the family, but she makes the place look absolutely Marvelous! I felt right at home, it was a bit nipply outside but the view was gorgeous, Taylor's wife also helps out at the Mansion, (what a lovely girl, and wow does she know her wine)! Loved our room, it's nice to get away to a place that reminds you of when TV wasn't a necessity. Lots of historic paintings. The paintings of the fox hunts, brought me back to the days when I was a little girl in England, riding along with my father during some of the hunt to catch the Fox! Breakfast at the Mansion is superb, I like it because its a little different to a Marriott no frozen eggs here! The only thing we wished we could have done, was the Murder Mystery Weekend, but don't worry we shall return...... P.S. Taylor you stay your cute self, and take care of your lovely Newlywed! If you want to get away for the weekend, come to Jim Thorpe, Pa. Such a quaint little town. Downtown enjoy a horse & carriage ride with hot cocoa/ cider, happy hour at the Harry Packer Mansion with such amazing host, dinner at Moya, and end with your loved one or friend in a cozy quiet suite at the Harry Packer Mansion!

***Disclaimer*** I did not stay at the Harry Packer Mansion Inn. On a recent weekend getaway in Jim Thorpe I had the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of the Harry Packer Mansion Inn and enjoy some drinks on the veranda from Libations Lounge. Admission for the tour was $2. Drink prices were within normal range for the high-end products offered. Well, let me just say that I will NEVER, EVER pay that $2 admission again! The reason? Guests of the Inn are not required to pay it and this is where I will stay when visiting Jim Thorpe from now on. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the building, its history and the history of the town itself. The common areas were elegant and appropriately decorated. The guest rooms were absolutely gorgeous, impeccably clean, spacious, well appointed and the views were magnificent. There is an ongoing restoration project but I didn't see any work being done on this particular day nor did I see any construction dust or debris so this seemed not to be an issue. I inquired about the price of a weekend at the Inn and was a bit perturbed when I realized I paid about the same price for a nice-enough hotel with shabby customer service just a block away. I cannot wait to return to The Harry Packer Mansion Inn!

My boyfriend Ryan and I stayed overnight here a couple months ago and had one of the best hospitality experiences ever. We arrived a bit early for check- in and was greeted by a friendly pooch and a very nice gentleman who took our bags and assisted me in giving direction to nearby glen okono that we were planning on hiking. When we returned all was ready for us and we were personally escorted up to our room which was filled with antique charm and natural light. I was pleased with the personal bathroom (sometimes at b&b's it's communal). After changing we sat outside on the porch and had some of the best new zealand sauvignon blanc. After speaking with the 2 managers of the mansion it was quite clear they take great pride in selecting quality spirits for their wine bar. Our overnight stay was comfortable and quiet. Perfect romantic escape from our busy lives in the city. The icing on the cake was the breakfast in the morning. The quiche was TO DIE FOR and checkout was swift and easy. I would go back anytime and we have already decided to make it an annual trip. Thanks so much Harry Packer Mansion staff!
